Indian Government is trying hard to make the freight system easy to be accessed by the client and thus making the process smooth and hassle free. For this the government is taking necessary steps to reduce the cost and improve the speedy delivery or sending of the air cargo airlines.
In simple words single window system is used to make the trade process efficient by submitting all the required documents at a single point. The verification of papers is not needed at every different level of trade which makes the whole process lengthy and a lot of time is lost in it.
Also the time and cost taken in getting the necessary papers from the authorities is reduced through this system as less documentation is required. The freighter does not have to contend different agencies in a government by obtaining permits and documents to complete the trade process.
Indian Government is applying this system to attract more and more trade to improve the economy thus further by optimizing seamless movement of goods and information.
India is a growing economy but the transaction costs are high and the time taken in processing the required information at different levels becomes a hindrance in the import-export work.
According to the senior advisor of Ministry of Civil Aviation, that each air cargo shipment carries around 30 types of documents and over 100 copies to facilitate every agency that makes the whole process complicated at every step whether it is for imports or exports. To advance this time wasting and costly system it is suggested to put up an electronic platform to digitize key stakeholder interactions.
One major advantage of such a platform will be the reusable documents in electronic form and no duplication of documents over and over again will be needed and thus the cost will be reduced this way. The accessibility of data by the concerned authority will be easy and the airline can cut the cost on documentation and also the time taken to verify them.
At present the airports and cargo agents have formed their own cargo community system that is used in exchanging the information between parties in the air cargo business. But this system is not reliable and lack efficiency, transparency and consistency. Further the information exchange lack uniformity, a lack of data harmonization and a lack of end-to-end tracking.
The Indian Government will now appoint experienced people who can handle the stress of the job, as handling such a big task is a difficult task. A consultant to make the whole workable plan will be appointed and then an operator to roll-out and manage the system. Then pilot projects will be developed at certain locations before national roll-outs.
For reducing the time of air freight the Indian Government will form a public-private partnership for shaping an air cargo community.
It is done to reduce the cost as well as enhancing the efficiency of the whole process.Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a report that it favored of having a single window system to have a simple trade system so as to facilitate the import export.
